About Volume 08

This special edition of the Journal of the Virtual Explorer is entitled "Reconstruction of the evolution of the Alpine-Himalayan orogen", edited by Gideon Rosenbaum and Gordon Lister from the Australian Crustal Research Centre at Monash University. Papers in this volume are concerned with:

1. field studies with conclusions that look towards the larger-scale evolution of the Alpine-Himalayan chain
2. numerical and laboratory studies that attempt to simulate its evolution
3. studies of metamorphic petrology, igneous petrology and/or geochemistry that attempt to constrain the nature of the geodynamic environment
4. the results of large-scale geophysical experiments that derive conclusions as to its past and present 3D geometry
5. large-scale syntheses that address issues associated with its kinematic and structural evolution
6. geochronological studies that constrain critical orogenic events
