Journal of the Virtual Explorer

The Journal of the Virtual Explorer is devoted to rapid electronic publication, particularly in respect to contributions that take full use of the electronic media.

The journal is aimed at effective use of the electronic media for scientific publishing, with full use of colour, interactive 3D, animation, movies, maps etc.

To take full advantage of the searchable nature of an electronic journal, the entire text content can be accessed using the sophisticated PAN@PTIC Search Engine. This enables the entire content of the journal to be searched at will, using plain English phrases.  The full text of the journal is open source.  Images and PDF downloads are available only to subscribers, however.

The journal is intended to be strongly interdisciplinary, building links across the Earth Sciences, at the same time providing a valuable resource for commodity focussed exploration companies (precious and base metals, diamonds, coal and hydrocarbon).

We have chosen to make a deliberate focus on cross-disciplinary contributions, focussed on a variety of fields, with an emphasis on ensuring that we publish material from all continents.

Earth Science is a discipline that requires integration between many different fields. Special issues will therefore address many different themes.
